Conflict - Standard Issue II 88-94 - CD
The follow-up, of course, to the earlier Standard Issue: Singles Compiled compilation, but with less emphasis on the band's singles output (which had, in any case, slowed to a trickle), Standard Issue, Vol. 2: '88-'94 rounds up six years of Conflict, and then gives them a tight Colin Jerwood remix. The subtitled suggestion that the set covers the years 1988-1994 is misleading -- the opening cuts, after all, date from 1986's The Ungovernable Force, while the same year's Only Stupid Bastards Help EMI and 1987's Turning Rebellion into Money live albums also get a look in. From there, it's a relatively straightforward cherry picking of highlights from Final Conflict, Against All Odds, Conclusion and It's Time to See Who's Who, a parade that certainly reflects one possible "best-of" Conflict, although it's not necessarily one that everyone would all agree with -- Standard Issue: Singles Compiled, with its tight focus on 45s, is a far more cohesive set, both thematically and musically...
