Beyond Description - A Road to a Brilliant Future - CD
"Damn, talk about an ass kicking! Japan's Beyond Description won me over right from the start with their unrelenting assault on the senses. These guys unleash a vicious attack that combines brutal crust punk, grind, thrash, hardcore and just plain metal into one hell of a sound. I just love the variety of sounds on this thing and how they manage to pack in a lot of cool little change-ups into the relatively short songs. This is an excellent release from start to finish right up there with some of the best that Crimes Against Humanity has put out. If you like Urban Raw Head (who share the same label), I highly recommend you check this one out. If you dig that whole crossover crust/thrash sound that mixes in all kinds of different elements this is a must have.
WOW! this record kills. These guys mix hateful crust-grind in the vein of Dystopia and His Hero is Gone and serve it up with the epic moving power of Neurosis and then finish off the mix with some pounding, Cavity-esque riff driven sludge that is also rooted in Sabbath and even Skynyrd. Man, incredible stuff for sure. This album is a discography of sorts.
This disconsin band plays heavy with a gnarled style. The vocals are extremely deep and gruff. The guitars pummel and shread with an almost discordant vibration to them. The sound is thick and heavy, yet one of the guitars is higher pitched and raging over top. The extremely deep vocals lean this in a grind direction, with the thick throttled sound pushing that way too. I have managed to overlook this band for awhile, so I'm not that familiar with their past releases. This one is good, albiet a bit more grind than I usually go for, but this falls just short of the blast beat mayhem, which is good for me. They pummel the shit out of a drop tuned guitar with totally guttural vocals, while the whole pace of this throbs in a dis-beat style that also goes beyond into a thicker combo of crust-grind-punkcore dis style, and I'm into it. Another crust fist in the air band, with a super fucking heavy style. (Slug And Lettuce Zine)
Abba aside, End Of All encompasses all the best parts of Scandinavian hardcore/metal.If you liked their first album "Same Shit But Different" you're going to love this one.And for those of you who haven't been graced by the auditory enlightenment that is End Of All, think Skitsystem meets Wolfbrigade/Wolfpack meets At The Gates.Every song on this album works on multiple levels. The first track "The Age of the Serpents" blew me away.It starts off with a dark and melodic acoustic intro, then explodes into a melodic Swedish death metal intro...
Two of the very best of the crustpunk genre. Two bands that escapsulate everything that I love about punk rock. Misery - they've got the extra gruff deep vocals, meandering weaving guitars and continue to throbb their sound with the deepestheavy powerful sound, strong on the bass and thickness and guttural vocals, like a cross between the Amebix and Killing Joke Extinction of Mankind blend together perfectly - thought their sound is quite different. More akin to Nausea - with one (male) singer with a strong english accent. they're a classic awesome curst punk band - metallic and raging with a pummeling doulbe bass drum. these are two of the best bands and this cd rules.
