Active Minds - Dis Is Getting Pathetic - 7-Inch
Many bands that followed Discharge's stylistic D-Beat approach,
primarily in Sweden, began using the "Dis-" prefix and "-charge" suffix
in their names, and even began using "Des-" words with "Dis-" in its
place as a parody. Examples include Disaccord, Disfear, Disclose,
Discard, Recharge, Kegcharge, Disarm, and Distraught. The bands who
followed this naming trend also imitated Discharge's logo. This resulted
in UK anarchist punk band Active Minds issuing an EP in 1995 entitled
'Dis Is Getting Pathetic', which parodied the cover of Fight Back
Sleeve folds out to a 10-page booklet with lyrics printed in each of
the languages of the labels involved with the release (UK, France,
Spain, Poland, Belgium and Germany).

Active Minds - Free To Be Chained - LP
20 songs. A classic
British punk rock sound, although speed-wise this
album is all over the map from thrashy bursts to
slower sleepers. Unfortunately, the sound is on the
flimsy side, but more than a few songs pull it through
enough to blaze. Mysteriously, there is an
instrumental technoish number that is easily skipped.
Packaging includes a huge booklet with lyrics,
stories behind the lyrics, images and photos of
interest. Another booklet gives info in getting
involved with or starting a scene, with a lot of
information on putting out 'zines, records, etc. An
excellent testament to a healthy D.I.Y. ethic with
plenty here to challenge and think about as well.

There is not much left to say about these punks, they are active since
1987 and in 2011 they keep playing gigs and releasing records, web is
full of resources about them and more or less you probably have listened
to their tunes before so there is no need to say anything about them or
their music. The lunatics… is a flexi released in 1994 on a bunch of
labels including Loony Tunes (their own label), Per Koro, DIY Rec.s
(singer of Battle of Disarm ‘s own label), Nikt Nic Nie Wie Rec.s and
many others. It comes in a news paper like cover including lyrics sheets
in several languages: polish, Japanese, Spanish etc, actually i don’t
know if these writings are the lyrics or the translation of lyrics
explanation that is included in English but in any case its worth to
check.

Boy, am I glad there's
still people out there doing this stuff. Political
punk rock with no apologies. their lyrics and
accompanying explanations cover serious (but often
overdone topics like media double standards, the arms
trade, and fascism in Europe, but do so in a really
personal and matter-of-fact way that really hits home.
Musically, they veer between more melodic, almost
Thatcher on Acid sounding stuff, and their more
hardcore sound. This is yet another great recent
